Bus and train operator National Express Group (NEG) has announced today that it is to sell its c2c rail franchise to Trenitalia, Italy’s state-run train operator.
The sale is conditional on final consent from the Department for Transport, which NEG expects will happen in the next “three to four weeks”. An NEG spokesman says it expects to total sale price to be around £70m, which will result in a “small net profit”.
