Cameron plans to make rail season tickets "more affordable," says report

Cuts to the cost of rail commuters’ season tickets will form part of what The Times today describes as "a Tory assault on the cost of living".

Neither David Cameron nor his shadow transport secretary referred to the cost of rail travel in their speeches to the Conservative party conference. The Labour shadow transport secretary had pledged to introduce a cap on fares, as opposed to a cap on the average rise in fares that allows some tickets to increase by as much as RPI+6%.
