The chair of the Government’s Airports Commission, Sir Howard Davies, has said that no decisions have been made on whether or not new runway capacity is needed.

He told the BBC today, as his commission published 50 submissions on long-term options for maintaining the U.K’s status as an international hub for aviation, that it had been “argued quite cogently that we [don't] need new capacity, if we spread the traffic around”.
