EV charging provider Pod has partnered with Zapmap as a payment partner. As well as providing a range of EV charging solutions for homes and businesses, Pod operates public Pod Point chargers. Zapmap utilisation data shows that Pod covers approximately 10% of all public charging sessions.

Zapmap users can now pay for charging in its app at over 5,000 publicly accessible Pod chargers across more than 1,500 locations, including at Tesco supermarkets.

Barry Adley, chief operating officer at Pod, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Zapmap to enhance the charging experience on our public network by giving drivers a new way to pay, testament to our mission to make driving an EV easy and accessible for all. This collaboration brings together two longstanding pioneers in EV charging, giving drivers trust and confidence that they have access to reliable charging when they need it on-the-go.”

Pod’s charging network joins over 50,000 other chargers across 40-plus networks already integrated into the Zapmap payment solution, spanning on-street, destination and en-route charge points, with more being integrated all the time.

Zapmap users can add a credit or debit card and use it to pay for EV charging, providing a simple way to pay across networks from within the familiar Zapmap app.

Drivers paying with Zapmap are also able to view their charging history, receive live status updates and download receipts to track their spending. They can also use both Apple Pay and Google Pay on all devices that accept payment through Zapmap.

Matt Lloyd, head of CPO networks at Zapmap, said: “Integrating Pod’s network into Zapmap’s pay functionality is a great result for both current and future EV drivers, delivering straightforward and accessible payment across one of the most extensive and widely used charging networks in the country.

“Destination charging is a vital part of the charging mix, with Pod delivering charging opportunities for people to charge as they go about their daily lives.”
