Chargepoint operator Source has connected with the Plugsurfing charging platform.

The deal means Plugsurfing’s users will be able to charge at Source’s growing network of ultra-rapid hubs.

Source plans to open 300 ultra-rapid charging hubs across the UK and Ireland over the next five years. All the company’s hubs feature a number of 150KW chargers, which, based on industry accepted charging session data, would allow users to charge in around 15 minutes.

Source hubs are powered by renewable energy, along with technology from TotalEnergies and infrastructure from SSE.

It now has partnerships with five major operators – Octopus Electroverse, OVO, Paua, Last Mile Solutions and Plugsurfing.

Plugsurfing is an infrastructure partner for automotive manufacturers, fleet operators, car leasing and sharing companies and payment providers such as AllStar.

In addition, its offering spans fleet solutions and white-label apps, as well as Application Programming Interface (API) and Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) integrations for direct in-app and in-car system connectivity.

Alice Aprile-Smith, head of partnerships and business development at Source, said: “This partnership with Plugsurfing is excellent news for our customers, especially fleet operators who use AllStar. They can now charge seamlessly at Source hubs using their existing payment cards and maintain their usual invoicing processes.

“We’re committed to making charging at our state-of-the-art hubs as straightforward as possible, and connecting Plugsurfing’s 2 million users to our network is a significant step forward.”

Sofia Diakhate, Plugsurfing’s chief operating officer, added: “We’re delighted to bring Source’s ultra-rapid charging hubs onto our network in the UK. This partnership gives our users seamless access to Source’s growing network of high-quality charging infrastructure.
“It’s these kinds of collaborations that help ensure drivers have the reliable, convenient charging options they need.”
