Powers to enable local councils to prohibit pavement parking in England are now on the statute book with Royal Assent to the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Act.
An amendment included during the later stages in the bill will enable The Secretary of State to make regulations giving each English local transport authority the power to impose a prohibition on the parking of motor vehicles on the footways and verges. The Bill received Royal Assent on 29 April.
