GRIDSERVE opened a new Electric Super Hub with Roadchef at Folkestone M20 Services.

Situated close to the M20 and key routes to the Channel Tunnel, the hub launches with 12 x 360kW-capable ultra-rapid charging bays.

The ultra-rapid provision complements Roadchef Folkestone M20’s existing Medium Power EV chargers, which support both CCS and CHAdeMO-equipped vehicles, helping drivers recharge quickly and conveniently, whether they’re commuting or heading on holiday.

GRIDSERVE says this Folkestone location playd a vital role in the UK’s transport network, and the addition of ultra-rapid charging infrastructure at this important gateway supports the continued growth of electric mobility.

Daniel Kunkel, chiegf executive of GRIDSERVE, said: “The opening of our new Electric Super Hub at Roadchef Folkestone M20 marks another important step in building a truly national charging network that drivers can depend on. Perfectly positioned near the Channel Tunnel, this hub serves as both a final stop for UK motorists heading into Europe and a welcoming first charge for drivers arriving from France.

“Wherever they’re coming from, or heading to, we want every driver to benefit from the high speed, assured reliability and ultraconvenience that continue to make GRIDSERVE the most used charging network in the UK.”

As with all GRIDSERVE Electric Super Hubs, the site is powered by net zero energy and offers a simple ‘plug in and pay’ two-step charging process with contactless payment. Drivers stopping at Folkestone M20 Services can also take advantage of a range of on-site amenities, including McDonalds and Costa Coffee.

Walt Antrim, head of EV implementation at Roadchef, added: “Folkestone is a critical location for EV drivers travelling both domestically and internationally, sitting at one of the UK’s busiest gateways to Europe. By expanding charging capacity here, we’re helping ensure drivers have access to fast, dependable charging at a key gateway, supporting the continued growth of electric vehicle travel.”
