InstaVolt welcomes the government’s announcement of approving official signage for EV charging hubs on the UK’s strategic road network, a measure long overdue that will help EV drivers more easily locate public charging points.

We are pleased that the government has taken the crucial step of delivering official EV charging signage on the strategic road network – a move we believe will improve consumer confidence and bolster EV adoption. This marks a major milestone for the EV industry and drivers across the UK.

This pivotal move is a result of persistent industry campaigning, and InstaVolt has been at the forefront of this push. For years, we have championed the need for clear, consistent signage for EV infrastructure, equal to the visibility of petrol stations. Such signage is critical for ensuring convenience, safety and confidence among EV drivers and prospective adopters.

Earlier this month, officials from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) visited our flagship Winchester Superhub to see firsthand the challenges that arise when EV charging hubs are not clearly marked. Their visit reinforced the urgent need for visible, standardised signage that supports drivers at key decision points on major routes.

At InstaVolt, we have been relentless in our campaigning and have built a strong, collaborative relationship with the government to push this initiative forward. Our opinion research suggests that the rollout of clear, official signage will make a significant difference – helping EV drivers easily locate public charging points while on the move, and reassuring those considering making the switch to electric vehicles.

This latest move sends a clear signal to the public: the UK’s EV charging network is growing, operational and ready to support millions of EV journeys. Better signage simply makes this infrastructure visible to all.

As the UK’s largest ultra-rapid public charging network with over 2,000 chargers nationwide. InstaVolt is proud to be at the forefront of this transformation and excited to see how these signs will accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.

We look forward to supporting the government in expanding this initiative and continuing to make EV driving easy, accessible, and reliable for all.
