Climate Change Commission: UK will hit emission targets if electric car uptake keeps doubling every two years, writes Deniz Huseyin

A shift from internal combustion engine to electric vehicles alongside the continued decarbonisation of the electricity system should enable the UK to meet its target to reduce emissions by 68% (on 1990 levels) by 2030, states the Climate Change Committee (CCC) in a new report. The CCC is an independent statutory body that advises the government on emissions targets and reports to Parliament on progress made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
