In March 2025, Landor LINKS was proud to announce that it has been accredited as a Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation, highlighting our organisation's dedication towards tackling climate change, reducing its organisational carbon emissions, and its commitment to working towards a zero carbon future.
This month we were invited to the 2025 Carbon Literate Organisation Awards to collect our Award. The event brought together representatives from organisations across a wide range of sectors – including a growing number of local authorises – to celebrate achievements, share best practice, and inspire further action in the drive to decarbonise society in the UK and beyond.
Carbon Secretary of State for Net Zero and Energy Security, Ed Miliband, welcomed attendees to the Awards with a short video, and his enthusiastic message of support recognised the vital role these forward-thinking organisations from a vast range of sectors are playing in the low-carbon transition. He said: 'I love the carbon literacy project and I'm incredibly inspired by it. I want to congratulate all the organisations being awarded with carbon literacy accredititation at tonight's ceremony.
'More than 130,000 people are now certified as carbon literate across 45 countries. Our mission is to make Britain a clean energy superpower but it can't be achieved by government alone – we need to work with businesses with trade unions with civil society and crucially with citizens, and that's why the carbon literacy project is so important.'
A Carbon Literate Organisation is an organisation that has been accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project as being “culturally Carbon Literate”; maintaining a substantial proportion of its workforce as Carbon Literate and demonstrating its Carbon Literacy through its organisational behaviour. CLO accreditation is a tiered system with Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels, requiring increasing levels of commitment to action on climate change and creating a low-carbon culture.
Alongside accrediting organisations as they develop their awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities and improve their ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.
Said Phil Korbel, Co-founder and Director of Advocacy at The Carbon Literacy Project, speaking at the Awards: 'Tonight we are recognising and celebrating the outstanding commitment these organisations have shown to embed Carbon Literacy across their teams, communities, and supply chains – and taking tangible steps to cut carbon emissions at scale.
From innovative councils, pioneering cultural venues, inspiring housing providers and forward-thinking SMEs, this evening unites a powerful mix of sectors committed to making Carbon Literacy a core part of how they lead change.'
A growing range of Carbon Literacy Toolkits have been developed to maximise the ease and speed of adopting Carbon Literacy.
Using a certified Carbon Literacy Toolkit eliminates course development & accreditation time and costs as barriers to adoption. It also relieves the burden of updating training materials in line with developments in climate change science, impacts and policy.
A Carbon Literacy Toolkit is an off-the-shelf, fully accredited suite of courses that have been developed and tested by the sector, for the sector. Comprised of a slide deck, trainer manual, activity resources, and a getting started pack, these materials can be used to deliver Carbon Literacy courses even if you’re not a climate expert or experienced trainer.
With 13 courses spanning 10 unique sectors now available, our Toolkits ensure that organisations have the latest and best sectoral materials for delivering Carbon Literacy training.
All Carbon Literacy courses within the Toolkits are designed with a specific audience in mind, but the materials can be tailored, customised, and then reaccredited as a bespoke Carbon Literacy course.
