The Government is seeking ways of supporting the electrification of the railways, Heidi Alexander told the Transport Committee at a hearing in April.
Committee member Olly Glover said the German coalition Government, in its commitment to rail electrification as a measure to address climate change, had stated it would “no longer use cost benefit ratios to determine whether wiring schemes will go ahead”, said Glover.
