Norfolk County Council has withdrawn its plans for a new dual carriageway after being unable to overcome obstacles relating to the conservation of bat roosts. Plans for the £274m Norwich Western Link faced a setback last March after Natural England published updated guidance on barbastelle bats, which are present in the area around the proposed 3.9-mile road.
