Expectations of passengers switching from air to rail have tipped the balance in favour of official approval for a new open access service by Grand Union Trains (GUT) between Stirling and London Euston.
The service, due to commence in June 2025, will bring open access to the West Coast Main Line (WCML) for the first time. A previous open access service between Wrexham and London used the Chiltern line into London Marylebone, rather than the faster WCML.
