FirstGroup has won a five-year contract to operate services to the University of York, ousting current incumbent Transdev. The contract includes a high frequency UoY66 service from York railway station to the university; a UoY56 service serving the university and operating on a city centre loop; and a free shuttle Ub1 using an electric vehicle. Buses will be fitted with ‘cycle alert’ safety devices.
