The Highways Agency has awarded Balfour Beatty a £35m design and build contract to improve a 2.5-mile section of the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury in Kent, including dualling and junction improvements. The total cost of the scheme is £69.7m. Main construction work will commence next spring. Balfour Beatty has appointed consultant WSP as lead designer for the project.
