I have to confess to mixed emotions when passing the site of what was the longest guided bus way in the UK until Bob Menzies built the Cambridge Guided Busway.

On the one hand, the project, that was promoted under the banner of Edinburgh Fastlink, proved to be highly successful in that it allowed buses to bypass congestion on the western approaches to Edinburgh providing significant benefits to both bus passengers and to general traffic.
