Report backs NXEC plans for East Coast

A report commissioned by National Express East Coast has claimed that the operator’s expansion plans will be far more beneficial to passengers and the government than those of rival open access companies competing for paths on the East Coast Main Line.

Specifically, the report by LEK Consulting states that NXEC’s plans would generate “six times as much money for reinvestment in the railway than the nearest rival proposal”, offer more additional seats than open access...
