Back in the day parking ‘nose-to-tail’ did it at Twickenham

The 20th Century saw the landscape of Britain transformed by suburbanisation, slum clearance, the Blitz and, above all, by the rise of the car. This change is brought home by a visit to the Britain from Above website, launched by English Heritage. Photographs taken by aircraft show how roads widen and the car park becomes a commonplace feature on the landscape.
