Southwark and Project Centre’s redesign of a Peckham high street made life easier for all road users and pedestrians

Rye Lane in Peckham, south London, is an example of how highways design and traffic management is changing to meet the demands of the voices that were often forgotten in the last century when the needs of pedestrians and cyclists were often ignored. The number of cyclists in London has doubled between 2000 and 2008. With the introduction of cycle super highways and Barclays cycle hire scheme, even more people in London are getting on a bike.
