Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2015
Murley Moss, Kendal

Would you like to transform cycling in the South and Central Lake District, helping to create a world class cycling environment which meets the needs of both visitors and local residents?

As Cycling Adviser, you will be integral to the successful delivery of two key strands of the Lake District’s Go Lakes Travel programme - improving the cycle network and cycle hire network. You will work with a variety of stakeholders to improve cycling in the South and Central Lake District, including by conventional bike, tag-along, bike trailer and electric bike. Through improvements to infrastructure, services, interchange, information and promotion, you will enable visitors to access all the Lake District has to offer by bike and make travel by bike a healthy, fun and stress-free part of the visitor experience.

You will work alongside partners at Cumbria County Council and Cumbria Tourism to deliver the wider Go Lakes Travel programme, which is the Lake District’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund programme. It aims to transform how visitors travel around the South and Central Lake District and minimise the impact of their travel on this beautiful environment.

You will have a proven track record of delivering projects, which get more people cycling more often and be enthusiastic about finding creative new ways to change people’s travel behaviour. You will be an experienced facilitator of partnership working, bringing together local government, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders to deliver engaging and effective cycling projects.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applicants from all sectors of society. If you are an applicant with disabilities who meets the essential requirements of the job, we will interview you.

For an informal discussion about the position please contact David Robinson, Access and Recreation Developer, 01539 724555 extension 2735.

Closing date for applications is midday, Friday 18 May 2012.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place the week commencing Monday 28 May 2012.
