Glasgow bids to cut city centre traffic

A pilot scheme to cut the number of vehicles driving into the Glasgow city centre by a 1,000 a day is set to start later this year.

The measures would remove all metered parking around the George Square with no vehicular access to the east side of square. Other proposals include introducing bus gates on the square allowing access for buses, taxis, private hire cars and cyclists only.
