Tesco has announced plans for a Tesco superstore in County Durham which will feature airport-style ‘moving walkways.
The travelators will move shoppers from the 500-space car park to the store entrance.
The 55,000sq ft supermarket in Stanley could create up to 400 jobs in the town, which has seen hundreds of manufacturing jobs disappear in recent months.
Tesco said that a planning application will be submitted to Durham County Council before the end of the year.
