Independent commission on aviation capacity confirmed
The Government has confirmed it will establish an independent commission to consider how and where to increase UK airport capacity.
It was announced that Sir Howard Davies - a former chairman of the Financial Services Authority and director-general of employers group the CBI - would chair an independent commission to look at all options for airport capacity in the UK and make recommendations to the Government. This effectively takes the policy out of the DfT's hands.
