Atkins hints at start of UK recovery
Atkins has signalled that the decline in UK market conditions, which has seen it shed several thousand staff over the past three years, may have bottomed out. Presenting its results for 2011/12, the company said performance had been stronger in recent months, despite UK revenue falling 7% to £860m and operating profit 16% to £51.5m during the year. The slightly less severe conditions were reflected in a small rise in headcount in the second half of the year.
