Colleagues force Merseytravel chief to quit after 20 years at the helm
Merseytravel chairman Mark Dowd resigned this week after 20 years in post, saying his position had become “untenable” after half of the 16 Labour members on the Integrated Transport Authority called for him to go.
With the Liberal Democrat and Conservative ITA members also calling for his resignation, Dowd, a Labour councillor, faced the prospect of losing a vote to elect the ITA chairman at the Annual General Meeting later this month.
