Cambs plans to borrow to fund new rail station
Cambridgeshire County Council is planning to forward-fund a new rail station and recoup the capital cost from access charges paid by train operators calling at the station.
The county has been planning a new station at Cambridge Science Park in Chesterton, just north of Cambridge, since 1988. But attempts to fund the station from the Transport Innovation Fund and the now-defunct Regional Funding Allocation system have come to nothing.
Cambridgeshire is now planning to fund the station itself...
