Baker rejects mayor's request to open bus lanes up to cars
Transport minister Norman Baker has rejected a request by Doncaster’s elected mayor Peter Davies to allow general traffic to use bus lanes on a busy corridor during off-peak hours.
English Democrat Davies wrote to the DfT seeking permission to open up the bus lanes on the A638 north-south corridor during off-peak hours.
The bus lanes were a key element of the A638 Quality Bus Corridor, which was completed in 2009 with the help of a £15m DfT grant.
