Plans to restrict access by motorised vehicles in Edinburgh’s George Street and First New Town area have been approved by the city council. Edinburgh’s First New Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with George Street at its centre.

A ‘pedestrian and cycling priority zone’ would be implemented on George Street in the city centre. Most motorised vehicles will not be able to access the zone between 10am – 7pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm – 7pm on Sundays,...
