Foreign drivers should pay parking fines, says LGA

The European Union should issue a directive that makes it easier for local authorities to pursue unpaid parking penalties across member states’ borders, says the Local Government Association (LGA).

British councils often face challenges recouping fines issued to foreign drivers, with those on the south coast being particularly badly hit. Many are now using private sector debt recovery specialists to pursue debts across borders.
