York uses ANPR cameras to unblock bus lane bottlenecks

City of York Council has started enforcing bus lanes on two traffic bottlenecks using ANPR CCTV cameras as part of a programme to improve the reliability of public transport within its Medieval centre.

The partnership with Imperial Civil Enforcement Solutions (ICES) is a key part of the Reinvigorate York programme and the Better Bus Area initiative.

Both routes – Coppergate and Lendal – are part of the intricate network of narrow streets that lie within the historic city walls....
