Scots councils study future of coal line

Local authorities and Transport Scotland are considering the future of a freight-only railway in Fife after Longannet Power Station closes next year. The power station lies on the line connecting Alloa and Inverkeithing. The section east of Longannet has rarely been used since the Stirling-Alloa-Longannet line was re-opened in 2008 with the purpose of taking coal traffic off the Forth rail bridge. ...
