The Government has approved FirstGroup’s plan for a £360m investment in a fleet of 29 new trains to operate between London Paddington and the south-west of England – Exeter, Plymouth and Penzance – from 2018.
The AT300 trains will be built by Hitachi Rail Europe, financed by rolling stock company Eversholt Rail Group and leased to First Great Western, which will run the franchise until at least April 2019.
