The Government has already spent in the region of £1bn on its high-speed rail project, new figures reveal.
The annual report and accounts of Government company HS2 Ltd reveal that it has spent £624m on the project over five years and the DfT has spent almost £330m on property acquisitions along the London-West Midlands route.
