Nottingham-Leeds journey time study

A new study is to examine opportunities to speed-up the rail journey time between Nottingham, Sheffield and Leeds. A regular service on the line was introduced in 2008 but the 81-mile journey takes two hours. Nottinghamshire County Council has been campaigning for a two-stage journey time reduction, initially to 1hr 40 minutes and then 1hr 20 minutes. Jim Bamford, Nottinghamshire’s rail officer, said the DfT and Rail North were supportive of a study.
