DfT urged to pay for multimillion flood damage

The Local Government Association is pressing the DfT to repeat its emergency assistance for highway damage caused by extreme weather after flooding left councils with multimillion repair bills.

The LGA is calling on the DfT to set up an emergency capital highway maintenance fund as it did following the floods of 2007  after a string of councils were left with damaged highway networks after recent flooding.
