Victoria Underground station upgrade, Westminster

The secretary of state for transport, Andrew Adonis, has given the go-ahead for upgrading Victoria Underground station with a new ticket hall, lifts and additional escalators. When complete the scheme will increase the size of the station by 50% - it currently suffers from severe overcrowding during the morning rush hour. The upgrade will enable step-free access from street-level to all platforms via seven new lifts. Nine new escalators will be installed and the stairs to the main line station...
