Metrolink wins £25m for upgrade work
TRANSPORT MINISTER Tom Harris has announced that the Department for Transport will fund the final part of a £100m upgrade to Manchester’s Metrolink light rail system.
The £25m that Harris has pledged completes the £58m central government contribution to the project which will see upgrades to bridges, cabling and overhead lines as well as junction improvements on the Eccles line.
