SYPTE reacts to Supertram funding snub

South yorkshire PTE has reacted with bitter disappointment to the news that transport secretary Douglas Alexander has decided not to approve two planned extensions to the Sheffield Supertram network.

The PTE had proposed a new city centre loop and a route from the Meadowhall shopping centre to Rotherham but Alexander rejected this and suggested that trams were “unlikely to be the best solution” in those areas.
