North Tyneside introduces two-tier tariffs
North Tyneside Council is introducing a two-tier on-street parking charge. Streets close to the commercial district will see charges of 60p per hour levied, while 50p an hour will be levied in residential streets set back from the town centre. North Tyneside parking manager Garry Hoyle (pictured) said the council wants to free up more spaces for visitors to Whitley Bay town centre. Permit holders are exempt from the charges.
