Car clubs offer ‘better value than company cars’
Surrey County Council makes big savings by ditching pool cars in favour of Streetcar
The number of businesses signed up to Streetcar car club has doubled over the past year. The car club reports that its corporate membership went up from 900 to almost 2000 in the last year “as organisations increasingly look for ways to cut costs during the recession”.
Streetcar cites the case of Surrey County Council (SCC) where some 164 staff use the car club. The scheme gives staff access to a fleet of 1,670 cars, which they can use when conducting council business. Staff...
