Baker approves £58m Tram Train pilot

Transport Minister Norman Baker has given approval for a £58m pilot scheme to run Tram Trains on both rail and tram networks connecting Rotherham and Sheffield, enabling non-stop journeys between suburbs and city centres. The pilot is a partnership between the Department for Transport Network Rail, Northern Rail, South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) and Stagecoach Supertram.
