Merseytravel formally begins train fleet replacement project

Merseytravel has appointed head-hunters to find candidates for the new post of project director to procure a new fleet of trains for its Merseyrail operation. The PTE billed the move as the formal start of the programme, which is intended to deliver a new fleet by 2017 to replace the current 35-year-old rolling stock.
