Elaine Holt steps down from DfT railway operations post

Chair of the Department for Transport’s Directly Operated Railways,  Elaine Holt, is to leave at the end of December to take up a new ‘senior post’ within the industry.

Holt was appointed in mid-2009 to take over the running of Intercity East Coast from National Express. It is believed she had been in negotiations to remain, but was unable to agree terms. Holt said:  “We’ve achieved a huge amount  and we’re just starting to see the benefits of...
