RATP Metrolink deal highlights advance of major European operators

Yet another British transport system has passed to foreign ownership, and the lessons are significant

In March, the merger of French groups Transdev and Veolia brought another new player from Continental Europe onto the UK transport scene. State-owned, Paris-based  RATP received the London United and Bournemouth Yellow Buses businesses as part payment for its stake in Transdev, and chief executive Pierre Mongin immediately announced an aggressive UK expansion policy.
