We’ve all known for a long time that cuts to transport spending will come but the shape of those cuts is still not clear. What has become apparent more recently is that it will be revenue spending that will face the biggest immediate threat compared to capital projects. That means that support for bus and rail services will be most under pressure and both the rail and bus sectors need to justify the value of their services to the economy, society and the environment.
