£20m smart ticketing fund
The Department for Transport has announced a £20m fund to promote smart ticketing in the nine biggest urban areas outside London. The funding will be awarded to West Midlands, Tyne and Wear, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Merseyside, the Bristol area, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
The DfT is also to commission a study of a national pre-pay public transport product. The plans are explained in a new smart ticketing strategy....
