Labour abandons Heathrow 3rd runway

The Labour Party has abandoned its support for a third runway at Heathrow Airport but says the Government must also drop its moratorium on new airport capacity in the South East.
Shadow transport secretary Maria Eagle told an Airport Operators Association conference that building a third runway at Heathrow was “off the agenda” because of its local environmental impact. But Eagle said the Government’s ban on expanding capacity in the South East made “no sense”....
