When I was an editor of various academic journals it was not uncommon that submitted papers would consist of 95% equations and tables, accompanied by a short paragraph near the end called ‘policy implications’ that was, alas, mostly nothing of the kind. It would contain astonishingly empty statements like “the policy implications are that policy makers should take account of the results of this research” or “we should pay more attention to these issues” or...
