Ministers order re-think of high-speed rail route

The new Government looks likely to redraw the recommended route of a high-speed railway from London to Birmingham.

Labour had pledged to consult this autumn on the route via the Chilterns that was recommended by Government company High Speed 2 (LTT 19 Mar). But the DfT this week told LTT the route may be revised.
