DfT releases funds for Luton guided busway
Construction of the Luton-Dunstable busway is set to start this summer after the DfT gave final approval for £80m towards the scheme – 90% of the total scheme cost.
Luton Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council will now appoint a main contractor to design, build and operate the scheme. A project board agreed to a preferred bidder last November.
The busway could open in 2012 and should cut the bus journey time of 30-minutes or more between Luton and Dunstable to a reliable...
